Dr. Elizabeth “Lizzie” Youens is a veterinarian and veterinary writer with more than 10 years of experience caring for animals in clinical practice. From 2011 to 2022, she worked across a variety of veterinary clinics in the United Kingdom, gaining hands-on experience in both small local surgeries and larger hospital settings.

Lizzie has a particular interest in animal behavior and geriatric medicine. She is passionate about helping pet owners better understand their animals through practical, reliable, and easy-to-follow information. Outside of her professional work, Lizzie lives with her family in the Forest of Dean, where she enjoys spending time outdoors. She also shares her home with two cats who were originally abandoned at the veterinary practice where she worked.

Dr. Youens earned a First Class Honors degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare in 2009. She later graduated from the University of Bristol in 2011 as a veterinary surgeon. She is also pursuing a master’s degree at the Royal Veterinary College while working as a Research Assistant.
